Egypt. Ptolemaic Kings. Ptolemy VI or Ptolemy VIII, 180-116 BC. Gold Octadrachm (27.85 g), Alexandria mint. Commemorative issue for Arsinoe II (d. 275 BC.). Veiled head of Arsinoe II right, wearing stephane, ram's horn at ear, lotus-tipped scepter over shoulder; K in left field. Reverse: Filleted double cornucopiae; name and title around. Svoronos 1499 (pl. 51,21); SNG Cop. 322. Well centered and struck, in high relief. Highly lustrous. A very pleasing example of this popular large gold coin. Superb Extremely Fine.
