Naples. Ducat, ND. Fr-820; CNI-8 pl.IX,5. Mintmaster T. 3.40 grams. 22.22 mm. Alfonso II (of Aragon), 1494-1495. Second issue. Obv: Crowned portrait right with T behind head. Leg: I DEXTERA.TVA.SIVS.MEA.DNE Reverse: Crowned arms. Leg: +ALFONSVS II D.G R SICILIE IER. Very Rare. NGC graded MS-62.

Alfonso inherited the Neapolitan crown upon the death of his father. His kingdom was plagued by financial instability. With the imminent invasion of the French king, Charles VIII, supported by the Sforzas in Milan, the Spanish were doomed in Naples. Alfonso abdicated after a two year reign. His gold coins are great rarities.
