Breslau (Bishopric). Ducat, 1612. Fr-489; Saurma-Jeltsch-XII#30. 3.47 grams. 22.73 mm. Breslau. Bishops. Karl of Austria, 1608-1624. Obv. Interlocking shields; one crowned, one mitred within circle. Leg: +CAROL.ERTZHERZOG.ZVE.OSTERREI. Reverse: Five line inscription with date above. Leg: *A.161Z* / KLEINOT* / GROSSEN.FREI/ SCHISSENS*/ *NEIS*/ 19 AVGVS:/+. Struck for the Shooting Festival. NGC graded MS-63.

Karl of Austria was bishop of Breslau, and prince of Poland. This is indicative of the complicated inter-relationships between the European nobility. Of additional interest is the word "Neis" in the legend. This refers to the duchy of Neisse, in which the original city of Breslau was situated.
