Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 B.C. Gold Stater (8.59g), Akko mint, struck 316-314 B.C. . Hen-400. . Cf. Price 3277, 3282. Helmeted head right of Athena. Reverse: Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis; date in bottom left field. Nearly Extremely Fine.
Though well-centered, the reverse field at the date is not quite wide enough to discern if the stater was minted in year 31 (316/5 B.C.) or year 32 (315/4 B.C.). The first vertical stroke is visible at the extreme left.
