1853 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar. Arrows and rays. PCGS graded MS-63. Light golden toning. Nice details for the grade. Popular type coin that was issued with the rays on the reverse only this year. The arrows and rays were added to the dies in 1853 to help the Treasury department separate the previous, heavier weight quarters from those struck under the new weight standard of the Coinage Act of 1853. A frosty example (PCGS # 5426) .
