Sewell, William. The History of the Rise, Increase and Progress, of the Christian People Called Quakers, 1774. Third edition, corrected. Published in Burlington, NJ; printed and sold by Isaac Collins, Revolutionary War patriot and printer for New Jersey; he published many of the most important New Jersey books and broadsides. Oversize volume, 12½" x 8" x 2¼" thick; over 800 pages, plus an extensive index. Full calf leather rebound, with gold-stamped title spine. Large pen signature on front end-paper by original owner, "Edward Black's Book 1774." Normal age toning; some damp staining on back pages in lower corner margins. Contains a history of George Fox and the beginnings of the Quaker movement. A wonderful early American edition.
