McKenney, Thomas L. Sketches of a Tour to the Lakes, of the Character and Customs of the Chippeway Indians, and of Incidents Connected with the Treaty. (Baltimore: Fielding Lucas, 1827), 494 pages, 9" x 6", rebound in brown closth with gold-stamped leather title plates, 5 full-page engravings. An early narrative written in diary form which gives an intimate look at the Great Lakes and native peoples of the region. A full-color lithograph of a Navaho Indian was used as a frontispiece when the book was rebound. Pages have uniform age toning; original title page is missing but narrative is complete. Overall a sound copy of the rare original, in very good condition.
