Besse, Joseph. A Collection of the Sufferings of the Quakers, 2 Vols. 1753 London printing., 12½" x 8½", 768 pp. and 638 pp. plus table of contents. Original leather boards with new spines; gold, red-letter titles, and gold-gilt remarques. Small paper repair of Vol I's title page and light toning throughout. Comprised of thousands of articles, letters, and petitions, much of the work taken from original records and authentic testimonial accounts, covering the period from 1650, when the Quakers were first called by that name (during the English Civil War), to 1689, the first year of the reign of William and Mary.
