Philadelphia: Thomas Dobson. 1st American Edition. 11" x 9" x 3" thick, with original lmarble boards, leather corners, and leather gold-stamped title spines and tight binding. Light overall age toning and occasional foxing, but very clear text; some nibbed page corners. This volume covers the letters "RAN-SCO" and has 11 copper-plate illustrations. Section Sections include the French Revolution, a study of the Rhinoceros with a full-page illustration, and a large section on the Roman Empire. From the first set of Encyclopedias published in the United States.
