Stereoscopic Viewer With 4 Different Sets Of Cards. Turn-of-the-century stereoscopic viewer, in self-folding case. Accompanied by a complete six-volume set of well over 600 different WWI viewer cards, a 1906 set entitled "Jerusalem" with varirous black and white views of the old city, and a third full-color set of 95 different images of the Russo-Japanese War entitled "Siege of Port Arthur" dated 1905. The fourth set of 70 cards consists of 41 black and white cards and 21 colored stereoscopic chart cards from the WWI period, by a Dr. Wells. The cover of the box states that eye charts are to be used for testing aviators in the service of the U.S. Government. The boxes containing the six-volume set are in rough condition; the other boxes are fair to fine. All cards are very fine. The viewer has carved filigree and is in fine condition except for a small crack in the wooden slide holder, not affecting viewing the cards; there is also a separation crack in the wooden ring of one of the optic vieweers, and the fastening clasp is incomplete. A rare grouping.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
