(Hawaiiana) 1881 Honolulu Newspaper, "The Friend". Published by the Young Men's Christian Association of Honolulu, 8 pages, 12½" x 9½". With pictorial banner and text: "The Pacific Ocean.will become the chief theatre of events, in The World's Great Hereafter." Contents include letters from missionaries in Hawaii and Asia, a Marine Journal listing arrivals and departures of ships, and ads with drawings of the Hawaiian Hotel and The Sailor's Home. Very good; 3" tear in margin only of folded back page and light toning and foxing.
