(Hawaii) Kamehameha III (1814-54) He became king (1824-54) after his brother, King Liholiho, died from measles while visiting London. His mother, Queen Kaahumanu, served as regent until her death in 1832. Under her influence, he became a Christian and banned many Hawaiian traditions and practices. He reigned longer than any other Hawaiian king.

Royal Patent No. 1327 Signed as King with the royal seal, 4 pp, 14" x 8½", Honolulu, 21 Mar. 1852. In Hawaiian and English. Very good; overall toning; offset from seal. A transaction with Samuel N. Emerson relative to land at Mokuleia, Waialua, Oahu, Hawaii. In an 1856 addendum, Emerson relinquishes his right to this land to his father, in return for a different piece of land.
