1846 Coronet Head Cent. . N-3, R2. MS-62 Plus. Frosty light bluish steel brown with 15% of the red remaining on the obverse, 30% on the reverse. Very close to MS63 but there is a light contact mark in the field behind the portrait and a faint nick in the hair under star 7. The surfaces are lustrous and quite attractive. Rare terminal die state with rim cuds over TATES-OF-AM, and these cuds are bold. Finest of only 12 known in the terminal state. This is the Grellman plate coin for the die state.
