Lot 1880

1921 Peace Dollar. NGC graded MS-65. Untoned. The silvery hue alternates between levels of frost and satin-texture on this first-year coin. Lustrous and well struck with pleasing surfaces; only a few marks in the hair and on the eagle's feathers. Struck with preciseness only now and then found, although we must defer to the experts when it comes to the normal softness found at the centers, particularly on the hair over the ear. It was the coin's unusually high relief that caused the mint to revise the design in time to strike the 1922 dated coins. Pop 853; 96 finer. (PCGS # 7356) .
Estimated Value $1,700 - 1,800.
