Lot 143

1795 Liberty Cap Half Cent. . C-1, R2. PCGS graded MS-63 Brown Lettered Edge. Frosty reddish steel brown and chocolate with traces of iridescent bluish steel toning in protected areas of the obverse. Sharply struck showing very crisply defined details on both sides, but the surfaces are a bit dull thanks to a thin layer of natural oxidation. The only marks are a tiny nick in the field left of the cap and a small, shallow planchet flake touching the left side of the 9 in the date. Both marks are visible only with the aid of a glass and the eye appeal of this piece is excellent. Early die state, Manley state 1.0. EAC grade MS60. The Hesselgesser provenance is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 3; 1 in 64 BN, 1 in 66 BN and 1 in 67 BN.
Estimated Value $10,000 - 20,000.
Ex Dr. Hesselgesser.
