Lot 141

1794 Liberty Cap Half Cent. . C-9, R2. PCGS graded MS-62 Brown High-Relief Head. Lustrous medium brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints and traces of very faded mint color remaining in protected areas on both sides. The only defect is a tiny nick in the field under the tip of the chin. Sharply struck and nicely centered on a problem-free planchet. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal of this piece is outstanding. Late die state, Manley state 3.0, with a rim cud in the dentils just left of the fraction. EAC grade MS60 and tied for second finest known honors. Tied for finest in the Noyes census, his photo #58147. Comes with a very important pedigree for half cent collectors, and the Eliasberg/Hesselgesser portion of that provenance is noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $20,000 - 40,000.
