1875 Shield Nickel. NGC graded Proof 64. Nice light toning. Sparkling golden gray with strong combination mirror-frosted underlying luster. Nicely struck; not fully so on a few of the leaf veins, but close enough to warrant individual mention. A scarce year in this brief series that ran from 1866 until 1883. Proofs were issued every year. 700+ Proofs struck. Pop 104; 79 finer; 59 in 65; 19 in 66; 1 in 67. (PCGS # 3829) .
