National Portrait Gallery of Eminent Americans…. By Evert A. Duyckinck, New York, Johnson Fry & Co., 1862. Two volumes, 11¼x8¾", marbled boards with reddish-brown calf spine and tips; gilt titles at spine. Bindings are firm with minor scuffing and one dig in the upper right corner of the spine on Vol. II With 119 monochromatic steel plate illustrations from paintings of Alonzo Chappell of "orators, statesmen, naval & military heroes, jurists, authors, etc. etc." Scattered foxing on pages has only minor affect on engravings, which are valuable by themselves. Overall good condition.
