1856 $1 Gold Indian. Slanting 5. ANACS graded AU-58 Details, Scratched. With this example, we begin a run of the Type 3 coinage, where the head on Liberty has been broadened and entered into the die in lower relief to improve strike characteristics. As can be seen, the design is fully featured. There is a long scratch in the field at right, however (PCGS # 7540) .
