1899, $1 Silver Certificate. . Fr-232. . KL-47. Fresh crisp paper with bright colors and simply outstanding originality for the paper money connoisseur. These silver certificates were backed by silver dollars or silver coins (at the redeemer's discretion) but could also be redeemed in gold if need be since the country was on a gold "standard" in the 1890s to 1920s when these black eagle notes were current. CGA graded Gem Crisp Uncirculated 67.
