1767 French Colonies Sou, counterstamped RF. PCGS graded VF-20. The flat spot on the side opposite the counterstamp is typical for this copper colonial issue. Reddish brown to steel brown two-tone patina on both sides. These were coined for use in the French colonies and only unofficialy circulated in Louisiana along with other foreign coins and tokens. Most are found counterstamped RF for Republique Francaise for use in the West Indies. The mintmark A signified the Paris Mint.
