Carinus, 283-285 AD., and Numerian. Gold Aureus (4.88 g), 283 AD. Extremely Rare, said to be one of only 5 known! Conjoined busts right, Carinus laureate, Numerian laureate and draped. Reverse: Victory advancing right, holding tropaeum at angle; VICTORIA AVGG. RIC --; C. --; cf. Hunter 1; Calico 4405a (citing an example in Triton VI, 1-15-03, lot 1069, then listed as unpublished with this reverse type). Well centered on generous flan; with residual luster. Nearly Extremely Fine.
