Pontic Kingdom. Mithradates VI 120-63 BC. Gold Stater (8.27 g), of First Mithradatic War, Callatis mint. Lysimachos type: Diademed head of deified Alexander the Great right. Reverse: Athena Nikephoros enthroned left; KAΛ on throne, Delta-monogram beneath arm, trident in exergue. Pick, AMNG 263.1. Obverse die a bit rusty but generally quite fresh. Clean strike with some luster. Nice eye appeal for one of these. A pleasing Very Fine.
