Tarentum, c. 272-235 BC. AR Nomos (6.56 g). Youth crowning horse right; ΛEΩN beneath. Reverse: Taras on dolphin left, with trident and grapes, AI monogram to right, walking lion below. SNG ANS 1185 (same dies), 1186; Vlasto 858. Sharply struck, bold to high relief devices, on excellent metal. Attractive light toning. Appealing art, all the more so for the remarkable little lion on the reverse. Extremely Fine.
