Lot 1553

1873. Closed 3. PCGS graded Proof 15. Very rare in this low grade. Nice brown color with even wear (hard to believe someone would have spent a Proof coin). All 1873-dated pieces started out as Proofs. There were those made with a closed 3 in the date, of which this is an example, and others that some believe to be later restrikes, with an open 3 in the date. All are scarce (PCGS # 3651) .
Estimated Value $900 - 1,100.
The Victor Kramer Collection.

Realized $1,438
