Lot 1498

1855 Coronet Head Half Cent. PCGS graded MS-64 Red. Well struck. Frosty and fiery red. A satiny red example of C-1, the familiar 1855 half cent with slanting 5s in date, a coin that features strong underlying luster and delightful overall eye appeal. Substantial detail to the centers on this fine example, although an ineffectual imprint was left in a few stars, dentials, and other margin areas by the recoil of the dies. Pop 162; 24 finer in MS65RD. (PCGS # 1235) .
Estimated Value $1,300 - 1,500.
