Hardy, Sir Thomas M. Flag captain of the H.M.S. Victory during the Battle of Trafalgar with Admiral Horatio Nelson on board; he was with Nelson when he died. Autograph Letter Signed "T.M. Hardy,"1½pp (1p both sides), 7x4½", Greenwich Hospital, 3 May 1839. Fine; glue remnants at one margin, easily matted out. To his father, regretting that he does not feel well enough to dine with him and meet the members of the Book Reading Society. Matted and shrink-wrapped with an engraving of Hardy, a color copy of the front of the letter and a small image of Nelson.
