Cornwallis, Admiral Sir William (1744-1819) British naval officer; brother of Charles, 1st Marquis and Earl Cornwallis. Vellum Indenture Signed "William Cornwallis" at the bottom of the first page, 2pp, 21x28" (1819). Fine. Concerning the lease of Rookcliffe farm at Hordle, Hampshire. Written in a neat flowing script with Cornwallis' personal wax seal. Cornwallis rose from Commander (1762) to Admiral (1799), taking part in actions off Grenada, St. Kitts, Dominica and East India.
