World War I Vintage Dragoon Officer's Picklehaube. A Model 1897 Wurttemberg Picklehaube Helmet of an officer in the 25th Regiment of Dragoons, one of only two regiments from Wurttemberg to serve in WW I. The picklehaubes of this regiment are identified by the square front visor and cruciform spike base, this one with pearl ring band and gold star screws of an officer. The crown in black leather with silvered details, including the helmet plate, spike and base, chin scales, brim border and rear spine. The cockades are those of an enlisted soldier rather than an officer. Very good overall condition with some cracking and spidering to the leather, though complete and original, as is the liner and sweatband.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 1,800.
