Kearny, Phillip (1815-62) Attended French cavalry school and fought with the Chasseurs d'Afrique in Algeria; aide-de- camp to Gen. Winfield Scott; Union general; killed during the battle of Second Manassas when he accidentially rode into Confederate lines. Mexican War Requisition Signed "P. Kearny" as Lt. 1st Regt. Dragoons, 6¾x8", Vera Cruz, Mexico, 11 April 1847. Fine. For two days' rations. Four months later at Churusbusco, Kearney would be severely wounded and his left arm would be amputated.
