Massachusetts Document With Rare Colonial Embossed Revenue Stamp. Massachusetts land document with a rare Massachusetts Colony IV Pence embossed revenue stamped seal in the form of a sailing sloop and the words "IV.Pence" below. The document is dated (faintly) from the "28th year of His Majesty's [George II] reign"; this would place it in 1755. These rare seals, approximately 1½" in diameter, were in use only between May 1, 1755 and April 30, 1757. The Scott Catalog number for this stamp is "RM4" with a 2005 value of $600 for the "cut" revenue seal alone. The 12½x8" document has significant age toning, tears and separation, but majority of the text is legible.
Estimated Value $200 - 300.

Realized $345
