To Indian trader and translator Peter Besallion, saying he was upset not to see Besallion's nephew but once because of the press of business and that he hadn't even been told that Besallion's niece was there. He says that J de Tort is visiting Besallion with the intent to put an end to a land affair that de Tort's mother has asked for so often and that Besaillon has been reluctant to conclude out of love for de Tort, believing that the land really belonged to him. "I beg you to do all that you can to make him happy, which will oblige your faithful friend J. Logan." Logan was noted for his cordial relations with the Native Americans in the colony; he often took Peter Besaillon with him to speak to the Indian tribes and they became close friends.
