Contemporary Translation Of A 1783 Mississiippi/Louisiana Document. Land document headed "Louisianna Year 1783 / District of Fort Panmure of Natchez," 3pp, 9¾x8". Being notification by surveyor Charles Trudeau of possession of a tract of land of 600 "arpens," by Mr. George Rapalje, "fronting on the left hand bank of the River St. Louis or Mississippi," boundried by the land of Charboneau and Bacon on one side and by the "Kings demesne" on the other. The well-drawn plan shows the location of the land and the river. Translated records such as these played an important role in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803; the original document was in Spanish. Very good.
