Mountbatten of Burma, 1st Earl (Louis Mountbatten) (1900-79) British naval commander and statesman; assassinated by the provisional IRA. Autograph Letter Signed "Louis Mountbatten" on St. James's Palace letterhead, 3pp, 7½x4¾", 28 June 1922. Fine. Written ten days after his marriage to Edwina Ashley, thanking Captain Carter for a wedding present and regretting that Carter has lost his job. "…if they are making 'age' the reason, then not even the most promising officer ever born can hope to escape…."
