(Secretaries of State) Randolph, Rush, and Dallas. Edmund Randolph (1753-1813) ANS, 1p, 7¾x4¾", n.p., 7 Jan. 1791, giving instructions to deliver a note and pay a balance; light. Richard Rush (1780-1859) ALS 4pp, 7¼x4½", Lydenham, 10 June 1843, promising "country air, quietness and shade" to Hon. J.C. Spencer if he will visit to discuss "some of the topicks that came up…."; archival tape on p.3, affecting one letter of signature. Alexander James Dallas (1759-1817) as Sec. of the Treasury, 1p, 9¾x7¼", Treasury Dept., 28 Dec. 1815, to Sec. of State James Monroe, submitting "an application from Mr. Bourne, our Consul at Amsterdam" (not present); 1½" tear at right margin and smaller one at upper left, uneven left margin.
