Lot 647

1814 Capped Bust Dime. Small date. PCGS graded MS-62. Old green holder. Original russet and deep iridescent steel-gray patina with reddish tints in the russet color to cause it to appear like smooth amber. The underlying surface is quite frosted, while Liberty has distinctive sharp hair curls, a full but not bold drapery and clasp. As often encountered, some of the stars are weak to very flat due to unevenness in the strike or possibly to die bulging. Most noticeable are the flat stars behind the head. Choice throughout and completely original without cleaning. Pop 3; 2 in 64; 1 in 65. Only 15 total graded by PCGS (PCGS # 4489) .
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,500.

Realized $3,680
