1798 Draped Bust Dime. 98 over 97. 16 stars. PCGS graded AU-50. Silver grey toning with deeper shades of charcoal gray and russet around the stars and lower obverse. Typical uneven strike for this scarce overdate, with lack of hair definition seen at the center of Liberty's head. The rims, too, show little in the way of rim denticles, as these too were weakly impressed by the dies. A scarce variety. Pop 3; 24 Finer. (PCGS # 4468) .
