1798 Draped Bust Dime. Large 8. NGC graded AU-58. 2 die cracks on the obv. One bisects Liberty. Breen refers to this variety as a "Medium 8" but it is easy to decipher from the distinctive die break from the rim to Y. Later (this is from an middle state of the die) the Y-break continues and deepens all the way to Liberty's nose. Another extends from her chin into the field. Medium antique greyish-violet toning. A choice, lustrous eaxmple and quite scarce. Only 27,550 minted of the 1798 dime, all varieties combined. Pop 8 with 18 better. (PCGS # 4466) .
