1880 Shield Nickel. NGC graded Proof 65. Delicate bluish toning. A satiny frosted gem with richly imbued mirror surface that displays the frosty pale nickel-blue color. Nicely struck for an 1880 Proof, indeed, about as fine as this date is ever found. The mint struck 3,955 Proofs this year (PCGS # 3835) .
