1878. NGC graded MS-62. Well struck and untoned. A frosty example. Coming off of 17 years during the "greenback" inflation of 1861-77, the mints began to accept gold for coinage and the banks actually resumed paying out gold at 100% of face value for paper money beginning in January 1878. The nation's banking community breathed a sigh of relief (PCGS # 7828) .
