Lot 3235

Fr-911a. 1914, $10 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Superb Gem New 68PPQ. . Fr-911a. An utterly fresh, gorgeous Gem whose perfection is easily seen in the crisp white paper, bold blue overprint on the front, and dark blue-green ink on the back design. This is the most proflic issuing district, New York, encompassing the money center of the country, New York City. Signatures are of White and Mellon.

Vignettes of factory and farm scenes are used on the $10 series Federal Reserve Notes and National Currency series 1910. On the back is the key redemption notice "payable in gold on demand" since in the early years of the Federal Reserve system (up to 1933) notes were backed by hard money. Later on, after the gold confiscation in April 1933, this no longer applied and eventually, the new small size Federal Reserve notes changed their obligation to what is for all intents and purposes a non-obligation.
Estimated Value $600 - 700.

Realized $1,800
