1891, $5 Coin Note. PCGS Gem New 65PPQ. . Fr-363. . KL-257. General George H. Thomas is the hirsute gentleman on the front of this scarce Treasury Note of 1891. He was the Union Army general during the Civil War famous as the "rock of Chicamauga." His portrait was engraved by Lorenzo J. Hatch. This is a particularly fresh looking Gem with its red seal and red serial numbers against an intricate field of black design. The back of the note is printed in dark green.
