Lot 2244

Great Britain. Guinea, 1697. S.3460; Fr-313. William III. Second laureate bust facing right. Reverse: Crowned cruciform shields, sceptres in angles, human-headed harp, inverted die axis. A hint of light cleaning, otherwise a nice coin with a good color and some original luster. About Uncirculated.

This is an exceptionally rare date in high grade. it is worth noting that this date eluded Dr. Jacob Terner, although in his collection were high grade William III Guineas dated 1695, 1698, 1700 and 1701. Similarly, other major collections of British gold coins have not included this date.
Estimated Value $3,750 - 4,250.

Realized $4,560
