Lot 2

1787 Vermont. Britannia. PCGS graded Fine-15 Brown. Medium to dark steel brown with light granularity. This has the scarce Britannia reverse with typical soft detail as though the dies were intentionally made very weak so as to trick the authorities into thinking that a newly minted coin had been in circulation in Britain before import into America. This issue must be graded by the obverse only. Breen suggested the design was possibly ground off the die after it had been used with 4 different Tory copper obverses (PCGS # 554) .
Estimated Value $300 - 350.
