Lamp with Lion. Roman Empire, Italy, 1st century AD. Round bodied lamp, with wide spatulate mouth and volute neck, no handle, and deep red-orange slip. Discus: a lion runs left. Cf. Deneauve 341. Intact, showing minimal wear, with most of slip remaining. Length: 4". Choice and attractive -- the lamp nearly pristine, with only a little soot staining to show that it was used.
