Denzel Washington's Civil War Uniform From "Glory." Three-piece wool, Civil War style Union uniform issued to the set of the 1989 production of Glory, for use by Denzel Washingotn, who portrayed Private Trip, a slave who became a soldier in the first volunteer African American company. Washington won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for this role. The trousers are light blue; the jacket is navy with one brass button and has a few moth holes on the right shoulder. The cap is navy and leather. The uniform was originally acquired from the set by the costumer and has been stored in wardrobe archives since the production was completed.
