To Henry Whitney, Cleveland, regarding the recent Southern Exposition in Cleveland and unpaid debts. In small part: "Its last Exhibition was indebted to the American Art Union of New York for all the expense of insurance & transportation of the pictures borrowed. These expenses are still unpaid….I am…a thousand dollars out of pocket on this matter…."
