1928, $1000 Federal Reserve Note. Fr-2210-D. Scarcer 1928 series. At the time this note was printed, a thousand dollars would trade for 50 ounces of gold. Today, with gold at well north of $400 an ounce, well, do the math. PCGS graded Fine 15.
The legend at the top reads REDEEMABLE IN GOLD ON DEMAND AT THE UNITED STATES TREASURY OR IN GOLD OR LAWFUL MONEY AT ANY FEDERAL RESERVE BANK.
