Roman Empire. Theodosius II, 402-450 AD. Rare. Gold Solidus (4.44 g), Thessalonica mint, struck c. 424-430 AD. Diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust three-quarters facing, with spear and shield. Reverse: Theodosius in military attire standing facing, holding standard and globus cruciger, star in left field; TESOB in exergue. RIC 361 (R. 2). Well struck from fresh dies. Clean fields, and very lustrous. Nearly Extremely Fine.
