Bearded facing head, wearing diadem and Parthian-style tiara with pellet-in-crescent; "The divine Ardaxir, king" in Pahlavi. Reverse: Bearded head of Papak left, wearing diadem and Parthian-style tiara with star-in-crescent; "Son of the divinity Papak, king" in Pahlavi. SNS Type I(1) / I(1), 1; Göbl I/1; Paruck 4; De Morgan pl. XXXIV, 18; Alram 657; MACW 755; and cf. especially Triton VIII (1-11-05) lot no. 694, for same obverse die, but there severely degraded. Noticeable die break along left of obverse. Nevertheless the devices are sharp and bold. The legends on this issue look a little blundered. Deeply toned, with underlying luster.
